Athan Automation

I always wanted to be able to announce the Athan to my Homepod placed on the main floor, so everyone in the house can hear it instead of relying on our phone notifications. I was able to achieve this using  IFTTT & Homebridge. I started with using IFTTT solution as it is very simple and WAS free when I started and was working great. But recently IFTTT (2024) decided to move webhooks to their PRO subscription. Initially I subscribed to their PRO offering which lets me create up to 20 applets (more than enough for my use case). But for some reason, since i upgraded their were many occasions where the athan would not get announced. Looking at the applets, it seemed like the Muslim Pro service would fail to trigger. That led me to look for another way. That is how I came to create Athan automation using Homebridge & Webcal
